We met today for our second bargaining session with the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA).
During our first bargaining session, the MNA presented 48 proposals. The majority of the proposals, as presented, would not advance our vision and threefold commitment to our patients, our people and our communities. Today we verbally responded to all the MNA’s proposals, consistent with the process we have followed for the past 25 years.
The MNA provided a presentation related to its staffing proposal. The management team listened and will thoughtfully review this information and provide a response at the next bargaining session, scheduled for Wednesday, May 21.
We are pleased that the MNA agrees with our focus being on the patient, community and staff. We believe that staffing should account for patient populations, intensity and acuity, and we want positions filled in a timely fashion.
We are eager to continue negotiations and have asked the MNA to bring forward the full proposal, including economics.
We will continue to keep you updated on the negotiations and encourage all to visit https://www.careforallfairforall.com/. The site is a repository of updates, news and resources.
Sincerely,
Theresa Hannu, CNO
